Since I am pretty behind in blogging, I thought that I would just group a bunch of pictures together from end of school stuff. Both kids had a great year with their preschool and 1st grade classes and enjoyed some fun things to end the year. Blaine had a program to end the year - his class sung a few songs - wearing animal hats for their animal alphabet song and Daddy's ties for a Daddy song:) He did actually try to sing and do some motions but spent a lot of his time on stage playing around with his buddy Brady standing beside him!
I was fortunate enough to be able to go with Ava's class on a field trip to Lafayette for bowling and a visit to Columbian Park - I love being able to be a bit flexible with my work schedule to do these kinds of things with the kids!
Ava's school also hosted it's first Daddy-Daughter Dance. We even got John a new shirt and tie for the occasion! I thought that they both looked great and they had a wonderful time. Lot of little girls all fancied up dancing away! John took Ava out for supper before their dance date - even taking her best friend Lauren with them since her Daddy was planting corn and wasn't able to stop early to take her out to eat. Ava and Lauren had went to the nail salon earlier in the day to get their nails done together as well - so much fun for little girls!
I also helped out with Field Day at Ava's school - Blaine was my helper as a group leader and he had tons of fun too. The kids had a picnic lunch before field day so I told Ava that Blaine and I would come eat with her and would just bring lunches for all of us when I came. However, on my way to school, a teacher friend texted me that my daughter was starving! I thought that lunch started at noon but apparently, it was 11:30, so Ava was watching all the other kids eat while she had no food at all! I didn't feel like a very good Mom at that point! But we all ate quickly once we got there and caught up with the rest of her class shortly after. No big deal in the long run, but it did make me feel pretty bad for a bit. Blaine got to participate in some of the events with my class group too. He loved the pom-pom dodge ball game - he's got a pretty good arm and kept up with the first graders well. The Popsicle station was also a bit hit for all of the kids!
Lots of fun events to wind down the school year and now lots of fun summer things!
