I love our small town - great people/neighbors, small town feel, but still lots of fun! The annual town festival was in June and we had a little break in the monsoon rains to enjoy the activities. My mom even came over to do balloon creatures for festival-goers. While grandma worked, the kids enjoyed the fun with grandpa, mom and dad. All the activities are free, so makes it even better - we can actually enjoy them rather than watching and not wanting to spend tons of money on stuff. Ava and Blaine became nomads riding a camel with Lauren.
Elsa was a huge hit with all the little girls standing in line to get their picture taken with her.The kids loved the pedal tractor pull - even though they had to pull between the rains. I think Blaine would have ended up in 4th place, but he was really wanting HIS trophy. Hard for him to understand that he didn't actually win a trophy. Ava ended up just out of trophy range too - so at least we didn't have to fight about one getting a trophy and not the other! They had been looking forward to the pedal tractor pull all day and Blaine had drug me down to sign up really early - had to make sure he didn't miss it!
After it started raining again, we went to Pizza King for supper with mom and dad before they headed home. While we were eating, it finally stopped raining and they were just starting to operate the zip line when we left the restaurant. There were a few people still milling around that area, so we joined in. Riders had to be at least 60#, so Ava just made the weight limit and Blaine had to just watch. Ava, John and I all took some rides down the zip line - it was a lot of fun. And with so few people around, we could ride as many times as we wanted!
All in all, a really fun day with family and community. I love seeing a small time pull together for some summer fun!
