My kids love their critters! All kinds of critters! They love their dog, but enjoy finding lot of other kinds of animals and bugs around the yard. John had a customer bring this turtle into work and he then brought it home to show the kids. They had lots of fun petting and playing with him before we took a walk down the road to the ditch to let him go.
Ava found a good spot to let him find a new home and put him down. After watching him for a bit, we headed home. But not until after a pee break for the boys. After Blaine saw his daddy watering the grass beside the road, he suddenly had to be like daddy and pee by the road too! Of course, I had to whip out my phone for a picture - like father, like son!
We also have a litter of kittens in the barn and the kids have tons of fun playing with them. All four have had multiple names so far I think and are going to be very tame, spoiled cats.
With all the rain, not only are there turtle out, but lots of frogs and toads around our yard. The kids can have a lot of fun with these hoppy, slimey friends! Then they have to catch bugs and worms and so forth to feed their slimey friends while in kid captivity. Their most recent revelation is finding slugs - they seem to think that these gooey, slimey, mooshy things are kind of cool!
Maybe Ava will be a great entomologist or biologist someday - I can guarantee that she had a lot more bug and critter interest than many of her friends!
