We had to take the kids to Huntington for their annual "Camp Grandma" experience and were able to partake in the town festival as well when we were there. We got into town just in time to see the Samaritan medical helicopter land. I think that the kids were surprised by how windy it got as the helicopter touched down. After landing, the kids enjoyed getting up close to check out the inside of the helicopter as well as it's ambulance partner.
We had mainly went in town for the BallonFest - lots of hot air balloons. It was extra fun since my brother's family was also there - lots of fun running around playing with cousins!
Cody and Blaine enjoyed climbing in the basket with a local balloonist - firing up the gas and checking it all out.
The balloons did a balloon glow later in the evening - lighting up their balloons with music playing over the loud speakers. It was pretty to see the balloons lit up in the evening.
We also made sure to spend some time visiting Grandma Bert and Grandpa Milt when we were over there. I think that the kids visited even more during their stay at Camp Grandma. My grandparents hold a very special place in my heart and for my kids too. Not many kids have such a great relationship with their great-grandparents - being able to stay with them and play with them. Grandma Bert has always kept fun toys, coloring books, etc. around for the great-grandkids and truly loves to have the kids come visit. Grandma's health has taken a bad turn this summer, but she has remained in great spirits and has still been loving the visits. I often kick myself later for never taking pictures of the kids with their great-grandparents, so I made sure to get a couple of shots with them during this visit.
