I am once again coaching t-ball for Ava's team. Most of her classmates have moved up to 8U softball, but her birthday misses the cutoff date and she enjoys playing t-ball. So I am coaching again. I do enjoy working with the kids and teaching them about the game - and I learn a lot of patience in the mean time! We had our first game and one of the dads was nice enough to take pictures of all the kids. I am especially grateful for this since I am not good at photography at all and I don't get a chance to try to take any pictures when I am busy coaching.
Ava did a great job in the first game of this season - hitting pitched balls all 3 times at bat and stopping several balls in the field. And I realized that even though we had practiced what to do, 5 & 6 year olds still don't always "get it"! I think that a couple more games under their belt will help, but I am still trying to get kids to run bases at the right time and to the right base. Or still working with the kid that tries to field the ball as he is running bases. Or where to play in the field. Or how to put the glove on correctly. Or not to sit on the bases. Or anything else you can think of!
