My little girl is 5 now - growing up so fast! Her birthday fell on a Wednesday, which is my day off, so I tried to do some extra special things for her to help celebrate her birthday. She loved her birthday message on her bathroom mirror when she woke up - asking me to please not erase it until after her party on Saturday. She had preschool and got to take special birthday treats, pick out a prize from the birthday box and decorate balloons for her classroom.
I told her that I would take her out for a special birthday lunch anywhere she chose to go. Of course, she chose McDonalds - definitely would not have been my choice, but not my birthday I guess:) But she did decide that we needed to go to the Homestead for treats for dessert, so I agreed to that too. If you have never been to the Homestead (which you really need to try by the way!!!), they have all kinds of baked goods, desserts, cookies and bulk candies. But she chose a bag of sour orange slice gummy type candies. Again, not my choice with so much other goodness abounding, but not my birthday:) So after sitting outside and eating some special candy, we went down the street to play at the park for a while. The kids had a great time, although my 5 year old little girl has a lot to learn in the arena of being a lady while wearing a dress - this does not include hanging upside down on the monkey bars!Check out that cheesy little smile:) Blaine was a bit confused as he could hear sissy, but couldn't see her as she tried to climb up the twisty tube slide.
To complete her birthday, Grandma and Grandpa Woods came over for supper, complete with candles on the eclair cake for dessert. She also got to open presents - all she had asked for was "girly stuff." So I had went shopping at Goodwill to find some fancy dress up clothes and she loved them! We also got her a castle to play with her small princesses and other dolls, which she also loved. Grandma and Grandpa got her a Barbie and some clothes, so lots of "girly stuff" was opened for her birthday! She absolutely loved it all!
Now she is eagerly looking forward to her birthday party on Saturday. We decided to let her invite some preschool friends for a kid party before having family over for supper. Hopefully it all goes well and she has a fun party too:)
