We hadn't been over to my parents' since Easter so we decide we would go visit for some family time on Memorial Day weekend. The kids had a great time playing with Grandma and Grandpa and their cousins! And John and I took advantage of our built-in babysitter and went out to eat Sautrday night with our friends, Matt and Lisa:). We spent some time helping Mom with some landscaping before our "date night" Saturday. Blaine loved helping Grandpa drive the tractor to pull out a bush.
And then when I realized I hadn't seen the girls for a while, I went looking for them - and found all three of them up in a tree. Such little monkeys!Blaine loves feeding Grandpa's fish at the pond. Grandpa has very spoiled fish that come up to the edge of the pond when they see someone come sit on this "fish feeding" rock. I loved this picture of John, Blaine and Dad enjoying some fish feeding boy bonding time:)
The kids love playing with all of my brother's kids - they all get along so well and have a lot of fun. too bad we don't live closer so they can play more often. Cody, Ava and Blaine paused a minute for a picture with Carson before we left Sunday night - they also enjoyed some Carson snuggling time:)
We got the kids bathed with jammies on and headed for home, arriving home with sleeping kids around 10:00. But then Blaine woke up around 3:30 with an asthma/croup attack - barky cough, stridor and not breathing well. Of course, he starts crying and making things even worse. We have been through these episodes before, but it was worse this time and we couldn't get his breathing settled, so we decided it was worth an ER trip. So after waking our neighbors (we LOVE Rick & Glenda!!!) and dropping off a sleeping Ava on their couch, we headed to the ER. The racemic epinephrine breathing treatment they administered worked quickly to help him breath better. However, we were then informed that this medication lasts around 3 hours and there is a possibility of a rebound effect and bronchospasms at that time so they needed us to stay for 4 hours so that they could monitor him. I kind of freaked out at that time - what was I supposed to do with an active 2 year old, who was feeling better and all energetic from the epinephrine, in an ER room for another 3 hours??? They got us some stickers, crayons and coloring pages and John went out to the car and got some tractor books and so on and they let us go out to the waiting area so that we could at least watch TV. Who knew that Curious George was on that early in the morning?! So, needless to say, we didn't have energy to do much on our Memorial Day holiday! The epinephrine effects apparently wore off around 11:30, because all of a sudden, it looked as though Blaine was about to fall asleep in his lunch. So he went to bed and John and I also took a good nap! Even Ava fell asleep for a decent nap. Needless to say, we ALL slept well that night!
