As with most kids I assume, Ava and Blaine have been VERY excited for Christmas to come! So when Dec 25 finally arrived, they were thrilled! We started the morning by helping Allie open her stocking full of new bones that the kids had picked out for her. Then we all opened our stockings, but I made the kids wait to open presents until after breakfast. Not surprisingly, they ate their breakfast much quicker than normal:)
They were excited to see that Santa apparently deemed they were on the nice list and brought lots of presents on Christmas Eve! Our tree was pretty full with lots of gifts for everyone. The kids helped both John and I wrap presents for each other and actually both did pretty good about not telling what we were getting for Christmas. Except for my slippers... as I put on my old, holey slippers the other day, Blaine told me I need to put on my new ones - they got me new ones:) Otherwise, they kept joking that most of our presents were big fat snakes. So when I was wrapping Blaine's new tractor belt, I had to wrap it like a big long snake!
Blaine has been very insistent that he wanted a firetruck for Christmas, and apparently Santa listened! He was soooo excited about his new firetruck. And I have heard a lot of sirens and fireman play the past couple of days! Thankfully, he took this truck to the basement and has been playing with it down there - hope it stays that way. This particular firetruck also happens to shoot water from the hose, but he hasn't figured out that it has this feature and John and I have not voluntarily pointed it out!
The kids were also pretty fascinated with Daddy's new ladder. They helped me wrap this and I was really surprised that John never had a clue what it was prior to opening it!
Ava seemed to really love the puppet theater that I made for her. I also made some felt puppets for her. We had some entertaining puppet shows on Christmas day!
We had breakfast and all presents opened by around 8:30 (wish they would be that quick on most other days!!), so they had the rest of the morning to play with all their new toys.
After a failed attempt at a nap, we headed to John's parents house in the afternoon. Blaine was not very patient in waiting for Lilly and Bella to show up to start opening presents. He wasn't happy about it, but he waited anyway. And we did get them all to sit for a quick picture before opening presents.
Blaine still wasn't all that patient waiting his turn for gifts as we opened them all. But when he did finally get his big grain truck and then this huge combine, the wait was all worthwhile! He was in heaven!! And he has been cutting beans in the living room all day today. When he isn't working on his truck and combine that is - good thing that he got more tools for Christmas because he has had to work on a truck that wouldn't start, an oil leak on his combine and many more problems apparently;)
All in all, we had a great Christmas day. And today has been just as nice since John and I both took some time off of work this week and we could catch up on things, find homes for new presents and just play with new toys all day! Now on to the next exciting Christmas adventure - Christmas with the Carroll family! The kids are counting down the days again!
