It's hard to believe that my little girl is 6 years old already! She is such a smart, sweet, loving, although a bit headstrong, girl. I am not sure what our lives would be like without her - boring I am sure! We had lots of celebrating to do for a 6th birthday. We started with birthday balloons and doughnuts for breakfast - including candles on the doughnuts. It would not be all that exciting to just get up and ready for school like every other day, so we had to add a little excitement:)
Then, I made her day by bringing her birthday treats to school and being there for her birthday party. The kids enjoyed the funfetti cookies we had made. Ava was all smiles and loving the fact that I was at her class!
She even got to pick the songs that they sang and pick the people to be the monkeys and the alligator in her chosen song. The kids acted out the song by monkeys swinging in the tree as the alligator came up and snapped them up one by one. The kids obviously loved this song and had fun with it.I also stayed for the rest of the afternoon and got to go to art class with her. She absolutely loves art class and was over the moon excited that I not only came to her classroom but also went to art class. Fun to watch all the kids working on their art projects.
While I went to school, Blaine went to Grandma and Grandpa Woods' house for the afternoon. Sounds like they had lots of fun. He apparently had to have a bath before coming home, so getting that dirty had to have been fun:) Roger and Nancy then brought Blaine home later and joined us for a birthday supper. Ava got to open her presents and loved the pink John Deere blanket that I made for her. She had been asking for a John Deere bed like Blaine's and I could not find girly John Deere sheets, but did finally find this fleece on-line and made a sewed a blanket with it. She loved cuddling with it on her bed every night!
We had a birthday party then on Saturday. We had some friends and cousins over for a "kid party" in the afternoon and then family for supper. Ava wanted a pink John Deere party, so that is what we planned. I was very fortunate that it was a beautiful day and the kids could play outside. We had a craft project that they could work on - decorating their initials with John Deere fabric and so forth.
They also decorated John Deere party bags to take their craft projects and party stuff home in.Blaine and Carson enjoyed a wagon ride together with Brandy - totally outnumbered by all the older girls at the party! Ironically, Cody was also feeling outnumbered to start with and played off by himself. But then, somehow, became the object of attention from all the girls. He was chasing the girls and they were squealing and running - and Cody was loving all the attention from the girls it appeared. Getting ready for kindergarten recess this fall - chasing girls:)
I think that we tested the occupancy limit of the trampoline. I think that most all of the kids were on it together at times!
Again, Carson and Blaine kept to themselves rather than playing with all the girls most of the time. They both enjoyed playing together in the sandbox.
Ava asked Grandma to paint faces at her party and all the kids loved the opportunity to get their face painted. We had lots of beautiful kids! This was quite a group of party goers. They had tons of fun playing together, although we sent home some dirty, sweaty kids:)
My mom also made some yummy, cute ice cream cone cake pops for party snacks.
Mom also made a cute John Deere cake for supper at the "adult party." My little country gal loved her John Deere party and a full day of friends, playing, presents and birthday fun! I actually enjoyed it a lot too - fun to see your kids having so much fun for their special day.
