After a couple of days of school, we had a busy weekend! My parents came over Friday night and Saturday so that they could play with the kids before leaving on vacation next weekend - couldn't go that long without seeing grandkids apparently;). So the kids had lots of fun playing with Grandma and Grandpa, then we headed out to John's company picnic Saturday afternoon/evening. We had a really good time there. The kids bounced in the bounce house, slid on the big inflatable slide, dug for pennies in the sand to get prizes, fed fish in the pond, rode the paddle boat, played with pedal tractors and lots more fun things. Ava was thrilled to play with her friend Grace, whose Dad also works at Castongia's - after all, they hadn't seen each since recess the day before at school! Needless to say, we came home with two tired and very dirty kids!
Then on Sunday, we gathered with all of John's family at the lake - always a good time with all the Woods'. Thanks to Brenda for sending me some pictures since I forgot my camera:)
Blaine wanted to try tubing too - his first time! They have an almost flip-proof tube that 3 people can sit on, so I went with Blaine (red life vest) and Max. It was fun to sit beside him and see his face and hear his giggles during our ride:) He loved it!
Ava loves tubing too and also wanted to try her hand at the new tube that you lay down on. I wasn't totally sure about letting her go alone on that one, so I rode with her but she handled it like a pro! We had a good ride beside Bella, Sondra and Max. I think that we had a total of 11 kids riding (and 3 moms with the little ones at times), so there were a lot of rides on the water! And we did find out that you CAN lose kids off of the almost flip-proof tube - as we lost 3 out of the 5 total riders at one point! Ava and Dalen were the only ones remaining on the two tubes, but even the kids that ended up in the water thought that their wild ride was "awesome!". I am sure that Ava would have been fine and remained calm if she had been thrown off, but I was kind of glad that she held on tight and stayed on the tube. All in all, it was a great afternoon on the lake with some extended family that we don't always get to spend a lot of time with. But a very tiring weekend!
