Blaine is doing great and we are basically coasting through the rest of the week to finish the 7 day antibiotic treatment. His blood work looks very good and he looks and acts like any normal newborn. So I will just continue to spend my days in the NICU feeding Blaine and go home at night to be with John and Ava. Hopefully we will be headed home by Saturday. In the meantime, here are a few more pictures for you :)
Blaine has already found that he likes Daddy's comfy belly!
All of the extra lines and so forth make it more difficult to nurse him and hold him, but they are all serving a purpose. They had a lot of trouble getting and keeping an IV on Blaine, so they ended up putting a central line in through his umbilical cord. This will not have the problems staying in the vein or clotting like the other IV lines were, but it is more invasive and does require some extra care when handling him as not to disturb it or dislodge it at all.So peaceful when he is sleeping! But he can be very, very loud and boisterous when he wants to be too - especially when he is hungry :) And he did initiate me well this afternoon in baby boy diapers - as he had a FULL poopy diaper, then proceeded to pee up on his shirt and face as I had his butt lifted up to wipe the poop!! Guess we better get used to that!
