Blaine is doing quite well - still has great vitals and continues to nurse well. But looks like he will remain in the NICU on IV antibiotics for a 7 day treatment at least. His bloodwork does show signs of fighting some sort of infection, but show improvement this morning after starting on the antibiotics. I am encouraged by these signs. We have a great NICU Dr and she eagerly explains things to us and she is optimistic about how his treatment is progressing as well.
So now, I will be heading home this afternoon without Blaine - hard to leave the hospital empty handed after delivering a beautiful baby boy. But he is in the best place and I would rather be safe and ensure that he is treated for his infection rather than have him get sicker at home. But now we will be dealing with a little chaos this week as we make multiple trips back and forth between home and Lafayette. I will try pumping what I can at home and come down to feed him throughout the days too. I also need to be a good Mom for Ava and spend some time with her too. She is going to be disappointed that Blaine is not coming home with me, but we will bring her down to see him often this week. She still LOVES him sooooo much!
Anyway, thanks for your prayers and concerns. I will post updates here so that you can all keep track of Blaine's treatment progress. And hopefully we will be able to bring our baby boy home next weekend!
Ugh...I can't imagine the anxieties right now! I'm so glad that things are looking so good, though. If you need ANY help at all, we would be more than happy to assist in any way we can! Please don't hesitate to ask! You are doing the right thing by trying to keep Ava's best interest in mind, too! What a great mom! Good luck this week. We are praying for you!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to hear Blaine is doing better! We will def. keep him and all of you in our thoughts and prayers. Hopefully he'll kick this infection in no time and be home sooner than expected!
