Going to the Big D - And I Do Mean Dallas!

I always love going to our annual American Association of Swine Veterinarians (AASV) annual meeting every spring.  It is great to see and catch up with lots of friends and learn all the latest research and information in pig health.  The swine veterinary profession is relatively small (~1700 members), so we know each other pretty well.  John has went with me several times and he knows many of the other swine vets and their spouses as well.  In addition to all the educational sessions, this meeting comes with some great social events too.  On Friday night, we went to AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys, for an evening of good food, stadium tours, pictures with Cowboy cheerleaders, live band, and good times with friends.
Our tour took us through both the cheerleaders locker room, as well as the Cowboy's players locker room.  Interesting to see, but actually a bit plainer than I anticipated.

The stadium is only a few years old and is absolutely massive.  Not only does the roof open up, but these huge glass doors on the end zones also slide open to turn this dome into an open air stadium all the way around.
We ended up going back to the stadium Saturday night with another group to watch the PBR Iron Cowboy bull riding event.  That was a great time!
The stadium is equipped with these massive jumbotron screens!  Hundreds of thousands of LED lights make for humongous crystal clear pictures lighting up the stadium - impressive!

Lots of other good times at this meeting and lots to learn.  Unfortunately, it turned cold in Dallas a couple of days into out trip.  We thought that we would get out of the freezing temps by heading to TX, but it didn't turn out that way.  Still a good trip though.  And the kids had tons of fun staying with Grandma and Grandpa.  This meeting is in Orlando next year - that should be a lot of fun!  And hopefully our thoughts to take the kids and do the Disney thing work out then:)
