When you celebrate a 3rd birthday, you have to have a party too of course! So we had a fire truck themed party on Saturday. Blaine was super excited for party day to arrive!! Unfortunately, my brother's kids were sick and they weren't able to come, so Blaine ended up being outnumbered by girl cousins but he didn't seem to care at all. We had lunch, then a pinata, presents and cake and ice cream.
We had to make a pinata and Blaine wanted it to be a fire truck. But I doubted my ability to construct a real-looking fire truck as a pinata, so I went the balloon route for construction and them Blaine glued cut out fire truck pictures all over it - he was happy and so was I:) I did learn my lesson a couple of years ago when I made one for Ava's birthday and didn't put quite so many layers on it so that the kids could actually break it open! They had fun with it and the important part was that it was filled with lots of fun candy and surprises:)Blaine not only requested a fire truck on his cake, but he also requested that it be an Oreo cake. So Grandma Carroll obliged of course and it was a delicious Oreo fire truck cake.
Even though there were only girl cousins around to play with, Blaine was excited to play tractors with Rick. I think Rick liked playing tractors too:) And Blaine actually let Rick drive his new combine - since normally Blaine has to be "Rick" and drive himself:) He got some fun presents - bulldozer, truck and livestock trailer, Spider Man, tractors, payloader and a wheelbarrow (which has already been hauling snow). So lots of new things to play with and a fun party day.
