Valentine's Day is not a huge deal around here, but we do at least acknowledge it a bit. On Thursday, I realized I didn't have anything for the kids yet, so I had to make an emergency stop at the store on the way home from work for a Valentine. They were excited with their simple gifts. Ava had picked out some Valentine's for her class and Blaine had to pick some out to so he took some to the babysitter. Since Valentine's Day fell on Friday, I wasn't working but had to take Blaine for a Dr. check up in Lafayette. So after his appt and a quick trip to the mall for a couple of things, we decided to go back through Fowler to have lunch with Daddy. Blaine and I dipped some chocolate strawberries for John for his Valentine and those were a big hit for everyone!
And then I fixed a nice steak supper for Valentine's supper. However, the mood was dampened a bit when the dog puked up a mitten in the kitchen while fixing a nice supper - yuck!!! I did check it out far enough to determine it was a mitten when cleaning it up and realizing it wasn't just dog food. But the kids kept asking what color it was, whose is it, etc. - I didn't want to investigate that much! I suspect it was a white one that was Blaine's since I haven't seen those for a while though.
Even after the puking during preparation, we had a nice supper and then took the kids to see the Lego Movie at the renovated Fowler theater. They enjoyed it and I enjoy being able to go to a nice theater (love the extra leg room!!) without breaking the bank. I believe we spent $23 for admission and snacks and drinks for all 4 of us - can't do that many other places.
I think we are going out to eat as a date tonight while the kids stay at John's parents, but we actually had a nice family Valentine's Day yesterday!
