Happy Independence Day!

We celebrated America's birthday by going to the annual 4th of July festival at Wolcott - little town, but it comes together for a pretty big festival every year.  For the past couple of years, John has driven a Gator through the parade for work, with Ava joining him.  She has also had a friend ride with her too since both of their Dad's work for Castongia's.  But this year, when John started talking about potentially doing the parade, I knew that there was no way that Blaine would let Ava ride without him.  So John decided he would have to do something bigger than a Gator to fit all the kids, so he pulled a trailer behind the Gator.  With minimal work, we made it into a fairly respectable float for the parade and the kids had a great time waving and throwing candy!  Blaine even had to take his John Deere dump truck to put his candy in - worked out well.  Blaine did a lot of eating candy during the parade route, but he did also do a great job of throwing it too - after I had to give him a small lesson on throwing it only to kids, not empty streets or cars:)
The kids had also been talking about fireworks, but we knew that we were not going to let them stay up late enough to go to any local fireworks displays since we were heading to Indy for a couple of big days the next morning.  So I got a few ground-type fireworks for the kids to watch at home.  They enjoyed sitting and watching the show together as Daddy lit all the fireworks.  They liked pointing out all the colors and Blaine enjoyed the "spider" ones.  I was a rather dismal display really, but the kids loved it and thanked us greatly for their fireworks:)  I love having kids with low expectations - we can easily fulfill them that way!
