Saturday was such a beautiful day that we spent most of it outside getting some projects done. By the way, why is it that as I complete a project, I seem to find 2-3 more projects in the process?? Anyway, the kids enjoyed helping me plant some things that I had ordered from a nursery. We planted a new bed of strawberries and also some asparagus - first time asparagus grower here so this will be a new adventure for me! Another new adventure is a grape vine that I ordered - not sure how it will turn out, but will be totally worth it if we get some edible grapes since my kids LOVE grapes. We also planted some flower bulbs and trees and worked on some other outside projects. Blaine loved the chance to help me dig in the dirt. But I had to redirect his digging from the garden the the dirt pile if I wanted to make sure that the plants in my garden stayed in tact! But that shovel and dirt pile turned out to be a dream project for a 2 year old little boy:)
I wish I had pictures from his Gator driving experiences, but I was busy mowing at the time. Ava was at a friend's house, so Blaine had free reign of the Gator, which he is just starting to get the hang of driving. John was in the tool shed and was getting just as much amusement as I was I am sure. Funny to watch the situation unfold on each round I made mowing - first watched him drive across the yard, then watched him drive up to the tree, then unsuccessfully try to reverse, then get frustrated as he can't get the Gator away from the tree that he has ran into, then try to push the Gator backwards (unsuccessfully), then finally watched John come to his rescue and turn the Gator around! He can't seem to get the hang of holding the reverse lever and pushing the pedal at the same time, but I am sure that will come in time. I can see that he is no longer going to be satisfied to be Ava's passenger all the time any longer!
