After a busy week, it was kind of nice to not have any plans for the weekend. It rained all Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon, so we had to come up with some indoor rainy day activities. Made me realize how much time we normally spend outside and kind of makes me dread the cold winter days ahead of us. The kids were going a bit crazy just by Saturday afternoon! Anyway, on a rainy morning I decided to try an idea I saw on Pinterest, so we played with some colored vinegar and baking soda. The kids loved watching the colored fizz in their pans.
They also decided to tear all the covers off of my bed and put my PJs on while I was busy elsewhere. So what could I do then but play along?? Blaine kept pretending to go night-night on my blanket - but of course, he only lays down for about 10 seconds when doing that:) Then I had to grab my camera quick to get this picture of them hugging and looking so cute together - we know that is not always the case! We also had some fun with caves, pillow roads, watching the rain from the porch, etc. Then, of course, LOTS of fun puddle splashing after the rain stopped!!!
Then after church and nap on Sunday, John inquired about a Polaris Ranger he saw on Craig's list. He has been looking for some sort of UTV for a while (and Gators are even more expensive!!) and found this one that kind of fit what he was looking for and our price range. So after talking to the guy, we loaded up and headed to New Ross (past Crawfordsville) to check it out. We ended up coming home with it! The kids are already loving Ranger rides - Blaine immediately hops up to the middle of the seat, where he knows "his" seat belt is adjusted to fit him just right:) And I am sure that we will find it very handy to use around home. My shoulders probably would have liked to have it Friday rather than pushing a wheelbarrow full of dirt and a 30# kid!
And here he is later being such a stud in his shades and boots that he had to wear all day. Actually, I did pry the sunglasses off for lunch, but he would not part with the boots to eat - wasn't even happy to part with them for a nap!
And I loved watching him crawl under the truck just like Daddy to help change the oil!
We topped the day off with homemade chocolate milkshakes after supper. That was a big hit! I actually had to make them in two batches, so I gave the kids theirs first, then finished ours. By the time I got back out to the tool shed with shakes for John and I, the kids had theirs almost gone! And when he saw me coming, Blaine immediately eyed my shake and wanted it too! So I ended up letting him stick his straw in with mine and I had to suck fast to get any of my shake myself. But John was a bit slower and all the rest of us were done before him and his shake was attacked by both kids:) So all in all, no big plans or festivities, but a good relaxing weekend spent with my family! Love it!!!
