Hard to believe that a year has passed already- seems like just yesterday that I was blessed with a baby boy on my birthday! But my little man is growing up and we celebrated his 1st birthday last Saturday. Unfortunately, he started not feeling so well again Saturday afternoon and that put a bit of a damper on his birthday for him, but he still had a good time playing with everyone that came to celebrate with him. We ended up at Urgent Care on Sunday afternoon with an ear infection. He has been feeling much better after getting some antibiotics.
But here are some pictures from his party. He liked his cake, but would rather grab the candle than blow it out (hence my holding his hands back in this picture). Sissy helped him blow it out.
He didn't have his full appetite since he was not feeling 100%, but he did like some cake. Although after smashing it up a bit, he really did NOT like the feel of cake and frosting on his hands! Then got frustrated when he couldn't get it off - so that brought an end to cake time.
He really wasn't all that interested in opening presents - but Ava and Lauren gladly helped him out! He found some interesting things to play with after they were open though.
We also enjoyed some play time with cousins later in the afternoon. Uncle Doug put great effort into making this tower and Blaine then saw his opportunity! These silly plastic cups have provided hours and hours of entertainment for kids and always remain in our toy box.
Grandma was in charge of making the birthday cake and for those of you that know my Mom, you know that she is super creative and crafty. In addition to the sheet cake, she made pig, cow and chicken cake pops too. All of the kids loved them!
All in all, we had a good time. I even got some flowers and a balloon for my birthday from John - after he had taken me out to eat the previous weekend even! And some other special treats from other family and friends. So even though we had a party for Blaine, I also had a good birthday and look forward to many more shared birthdays with my baby boy!
