No! I am not ready to send Blaine to kindergarten yet, but our school did host an open house for all young kids in the community to come eat breakfast, visit kindergarten classrooms and have story time at the primary school. I took Blaine and his buddy, Brady. I think that they had a lot of fun getting to be a big kid!
And we even got to eat breakfast with Ava - she especially loved that part! Our school corporation did actually just approve a preschool program (or Developmental Kindergarten as they call it) through the school. This will be an all day, every day program where the 4 year olds will be just like the other students. I don't think that I can handle sending my 4 year old to school that much - nor even think about putting him on a bus with K-12 kids! I know that this program has it's place, but I am very grateful that we also have a new, faith-based daycare/preschool opening in town this fall so that I have another option for Blaine. I intentionally only work part-time so that I can raise my kids and spend precious time with them while they are little - don't think I can give that up a year early!
