We are a couple of weeks into 2015 now and so far, this year has brought some cold temperatures and snow! But we have had some fun times in spite of this:) The kids were really excited to go to a New Year's Eve party at a friends house - it appeared that all the kids in attendance were pretty excited about it. Even though we didn't make it to midnight, we enjoyed a good time with friends and neighbors.
After relaxing on New Year's Day, we made a trip to Buccaneer Bay with a few friends the following day. Again, lots of fun was had by all the kids! They all liked the hot tub as well as all the water slides, cannons and kid stuff. Blaine decided he needed his swim goggles on and didn't even want them off for lunch:)We did not have a white Christmas and Blaine was wanting snow SOOOO bad since he got a snow shovel for Christmas. He got his wish at the end of Christmas break so he eagerly got out to shovel snow:) This kid loves to shovel snow - hope this is still the case in a few years!
This snow turned into much more snow and extremely cold temps by the time school started up again. Our schools ended up closing for 4 days due to the snow, ice and extreme cold. They started doing e-learning days, so we had assignments to catch up on at home. Ava enjoyed this and although it is quite a bit of work at home, it is much better than sending kids to school a lot later into June to make up these snow days!
The kids got adorable aprons and chef hats from Grandma Carroll for Christmas and put them to good use during a snow day to make a breakfast lunch. My pig and frog chefs made a good lunch of pancakes, sausage and strawberries!
This week, the temperatures got a bit warmer finally so that we could actually get outside to enjoy some of the snow. I didn't get any pictures, but we had great fun sledding down the big snow mountain out back and sledding behind the Ranger. I brought Blaine's friend, Brady, home with us after preschool Thursday and the boys had a blast not only playing with each other inside with all of Blaine's new Christmas toys, but playing and sledding in the snow. After Brady went home and Ava got home from school, we went back out sledding again. Always wanting to go faster and loving the bumps. The kids would repeatedly fall out laughing and scramble to get back in to go again:) Yesterday, Blaine and John put together Blaine's new digger that he got for Christmas - works great to dig snow! No need to wait for warm weather and sandbox digging!
Just a bit of what we have been up to so far this year. Still a lot of blank pages and memories waiting to be written in 2015...
