Our kids have a love for all kinds of critters and summer is a great time to find lots of different critter friends to play with! They have been asking for a while to get a cat that they can pet - our 1 cat, that disappeared a couple of months ago, was not tame at all. So we let them get a couple of kittens from my brother's place. They LOVE these things and spend a lot of their time out in the barn with them. They named them Ginger and Scaredy and over-love them I think!
They also love all frogs, toads, bugs, etc. and happened to find three little toads one day when Lauren was over to play. These little toads got rides in the wheelbarrow, their own swimming pool and even a life boat to hop onto. They are little, but you can see a toad on Blaine's orange boat:)
And to top off an already fun day of swimming and playing at Grandma and Grandpa's pond, they also found 2 small frogs. My nephew was trying to catch one of them originally and I laughed as it hopped up into his swim trunks! He did a little dance and it fell out the other leg, saying how it tickled:) These frogs were chased all around the pond and the kids even built them a fancy home on the beach
Of course, we can't forget the bugs! Wooly worms are a favorite around our place - Ava found these two friends by the playset and enjoyed their company for a while. Lots of bugs get caught throughout the summer and many placed in the bug box - some make it out and some are dumped out when they are a bit crispy!
We really don't need elaborate toys around our house - there are plenty of critters to keep our kids entertained!
