This summer has flown past - many things that I thought we would do on time off from school, but they didn't all happen and Ava is back in school again already! She started 1st grade yesterday and was very excited about it. I got her to stop for a quick picture before we left home.
And then Blaine wanted his picture taken with Allie - his friend:) When I told him that he could wear his boots that morning, I had not thought about pictures that I would be sharing with you all, but so be it. I do try to limit the boots and shorts to days that he is staying home or going to the sitter, not out in public. But he seems to like this fashion statement, so I often don't fight it.
We pulled up to school right after her friend, Lauren, so the girls got to walk into school together. They are even in the same class this year - they were pretty excited about that.
Ava at her desk - ready for the first day to start! I have found out that the cool thing about being in Mr. Gretencord's class is the seats - they are little stools that swivel and rock. They are aimed to promote good posture and keep the kid's attention, but the kids all just love them because they are different and cool!
Her name is on a purple sea turtle outside her doorway. Their classroom has a fun beach/luau type theme.
We are blessed with some awesome teachers, administrators and staff at Ava's school. I love being in a small school system with such great people. I still pray every day that she makes the right decisions when faced with peer pressure from other kids and that she can be a shining light for Jesus to others.
