Sandbox construction

We have found out that our little plastic sandbox is apparently not sufficient for both kids to play, farm, build, etc in so we decided to build a bigger one.  And by bigger, I mean a lot bigger!  It ended up being 10'x20' - that is a huge sandbox!
And of course, like most projects go, after deciding to strip off sod and build a sandbox, I decided to go ahead and strip off more sod and landscape the area between the playset/sandbox and the pine trees.  So our project got even bigger.  Ava was helping me here lay rocks to border the landscaped area - the kids were great help with this project!

And the sandbox has proven to be lots of fun already - even though we don't have the sand in it yet.  The kids have loved playing in the little bit of sand from the old sandbox and all the dirt.  The sand we are planning on getting is in the back corner of a neighbor's field, so hopefully it dries out soon so that we can get to it and fill the sandbox.  Almost a tease now with this big empty sandbox!
And hopefully I can get the mulch down and the plants/flowers planted to finish off the landscaping project as well.  I love that my kids spend so much time outside and like to encourage that type of play.  I am sure that investments in our play area will be well worth it.  They have a playset, trampoline, spiro-hopper (merry-go-round type thing), a slackline, trees to climb, and now a big sandbox - we shouldn't have to go to the park!
