We got our sandbox/landscaping project completed this week and I am extremely happy with the results! Rick showed up Wednesday evening as we were eating supper and was ready to go dig up some sand. So Blaine and John helped Rick dig up a grain truck load of sand from the field while Ava and I went to AWANAs at church. I think that Blaine was in absolute heaven! Riding in the tractor and grain truck and getting all the sand for his sandbox - what more could a boy ask for?! And they got A LOT of sand!!!

Then my mulch got delivered Thursday afternoon and my flowers also arrived in the mail Thursday. So Thursday evening was spent leveling sand and spreading mulch. Since I wasn't working Friday, I was able to finish spreading mulch and plant flowers. It was a beautiful day to work outside all day! I love the finished product - now just waiting to see all of my flowers grow. Since I ordered them from a mail-order catalog, most of them arrived as roots and crowns or bulbs rather than large plants. But these typically outgrow the large plants within a year - we will see.

We christened the sandbox by having a friend over to play with Blaine this afternoon. Brady is his best bud right now and Blaine had already been telling Brady all about his sandbox. And Brady has been telling me often as I drop Blaine off at the sitter that he is going to Blaine's house - even though neither Brady's mom nor I usually know of these plans:) These two will start preschool together this fall and I am sure that we are in store of many years of orneriness with these guys! They had soooo much fun playing in the sandbox, swinging and jumping on the trampoline (which Brady now wants for his birthday in a couple of weeks:) )!
And after a day full of shoveling and spreading mulch, planting flowers, removing straw from the strawberry patch, and plenty of other outside work, I am ready for bed! So nice to enjoy a wonderful day outside though - I am ready for more of these days!!!!
