My Princess and her Knight in Shining Armor!

We don't do a ton of Trick-or-Treating, but the kids always have fun picking out costumes and dressing up for Halloween.  This year, Ava got a hand-me-down princess dress that she wanted to wear and they then decided that if Ava was a princess, Blaine needed to be her knight in shining armor to rescue her!  I wasn't exactly sure how I was going to make up a knight costume (and I refuse to pay the ridiculously high prices for costumes in the store!), but I decided to check at Once Upon A Child one day just to see what they had there.  Believe it or not, they had this cute knight costume in exactly Blaine's size for $10!  My lucky day!  I did make a sword for him - my cardboard and duct tape masterpiece that he LOVED!
They had a great time Trick-or-Treating - Blaine usually didn't want to take his costume off after we were done.  And he repeatedly correctly me when I called him "Blaine" - telling me "Call me knight!"  As we often do, we Trick-or-Treated multiple times - hitting up my family the weekend before Halloween.  We didn't make it back from there in time for the town Halloween parade, but did go out Trick-or-Treating some that Saturday night, but half of our stops yielded empty houses since those neighbors were in the fields somewhere.  So we went back out on Halloween night since it was a rainy day and all farmers were home rather than in a combine that night:).  All in all, the kids had a great time and are still eating way too much Halloween candy!
