Been A While...

As I look back, it has been a while since I last blogged - guess life gets busy at times and these things slip through the cracks:)  More fun to live life than capture it here in the moment.  But school continues to go well and both kids love going to school and learning.  We have been enjoying the great fall weather and playing outside.  I haven't been good about taking many pictures lately, but here are a few things I can catch up on...

Demo Day - John's work hosted a demo day for their customers to come out and drive all the new tractors and test out new tillage equipment.  This happened to be on a day I was not working, so I decided I would take the kids in the afternoon if John wasn't too busy.  Blaine was eager to go of course and John sent us a picture in the morning of all the tractors, sprayer, combine, forage harvester, etc lined up in the field.  Before I knew it, Blaine was showing me that he was having demo day at his work too - yep, several of his tractors were lined up in the field as well, just like Daddy's picture:)
I failed to take pictures at the actual Demo Day, but the kids got to ride in tractors with Daddy, test out Gators, eat tractor cookies and have chocolate milk - what fun!  Although Ava claimed to have that much fun getting jerked around in the track tractor going over lots of ruts when John was having trouble with the auto-steer.  She avoided another ride, but Blaine wanted to go "rip the ground" when he saw a tractor and ripper sitting in the field, so the boys made another round in the field.

Day Off School - It just so happened that school was cancelled the day of Demo Day.  There was a sewage back-up at the primary school, so those kids had a day off.  The preschool is also in that building, so Blaine was off as well.  All of the teachers went in to work together to clean up the mess - lots of moving stuff, shampooing carpets, etc.  We have an awesome staff at our school that did this job without complaining, even though it sounded like it was a bit of a stinky job and required multiple shampoo attempts.  But with the social media "connectedness" of our school community, there was homework posted on Facebook for all the primary school kids!  Ava really didn't mind and eagerly completed her assigned work on this day off.  As it turned out, all the kids that did it, got a special trip to the office and candy:)

Grandparents Night - Grandparents night was held at the school this past Monday.  My parents decided to come over Sunday evening and watch Blaine on Monday and then go to Grandparents Night.  Blaine thought that was a great idea!  Sounds like he had a fun time with Grandma and Grandpa all day.  He was also determined that he was going to Grandparents Night as well since it is also "his school" - even though preschool was not actually having a Grandparents Night.  I went along with him to keep him occupied while grandparents tagged along to see all of Ava's classrooms.  She had both sets of grandparents there and was able to make a craft project with them in the art room, ask them questions about their days in school from a worksheet in her 1st grade room, have pictures and cookies and an overall great time.  Blaine was able to show them where his room was, but when we went back down that hallway, the principal (who has a kid in Blaine's class) had unlocked the preschool room for his son to show grandparents the preschool.  So Blaine did end up getting to show them his room and was pretty proud of it!  Such a fun event for the kids and they are blessed to have all four grandparents able to attend!

Fun-Filled Anniversary Day - Yesterday happened to be our Anniversary (9 great years!) and I was off work, so home with Blaine all day.  It actually turned out to be a day full of great fun for the kids! We started off the day by visiting the elevator since I had something I needed to drop off to a friend that works there.  Blaine loved it and wanted to do her job of testing corn all day long!
I finally did get him to come home.  But he knew that our neighbor, Rick was running a combine somewhere since he saw his truck come into the elevator full of corn.  So as soon as he finished eating lunch, I let him call Rick to see if he could come ride with him.  As we were heading out to get the Ranger out of the toolshed to go to the field, a lady pulled in to deliver these pretty flowers from my hubby for our Anniversary:)
After riding about an hour in the combine, we had to leave so that we could pick Ava up from school.  I had already planned to pick her up so that we could take some cookies to John at work for our Anniversary.  They LOVE going to Daddy's work as well - another exciting adventure for the day!  They would really love to bring this new Gator home too, but I don't think that they have enough money in their piggy banks:)
After all those adventures, they still had a trip to the fire station.  For fire prevention week, the fire station was hosting a fire safety night.  Ava went with her friend Lauren and then had supper at McDonald's since we were all heading to AWANA at church in the evening.  John took Blaine when he got home as well.  I heard all about the fire trucks, shooting the fire hose, crawling out of the window in the fire safety house, and all kinds of other fun adventures.  So it actually turned out to be a day full of all kinds of adventures and fun!  Love these kinds of days when I can let my kids experience so many different things and learn a lot along with it.
