We have been contemplating what we can add to our outside play area for our kids as they grow. Ava and Blaine spend A LOT of time outside and I like to encourage outdoor play. I was watching Blaine play with his tractors in the sandbox the other day and realized that a four wheel drive tractor and plow don't really fit in our little sandbox - it can barely turn around. So we have been thinking about possibilities of building a bigger sandbox. I am sure that it would get a lot of use by a little boy that loves to dig and loves to play tractors. We may make that a spring project...
But in the meantime, we did add a slackline between a couple of pine trees by the play area. After seeing some of these in recent catalogs, we thought that may be something that the kids would like to play on and would help develop balance skills as well. So we fashioned our own version with some cables and ratchet straps. Ava LOVES it and keeps practicing to get better. I am sure that she will be able to do it without holding on to the top strap eventually. She has also learned that she can hang upside down from the top strap - multiple uses for this toy I guess! Blaine isn't so excited about walking on it, but does like to sit on it and bounce:)
