Big Birthday Weekend!

I enjoy having the privilege of sharing my birthday with my son - we will get to celebrate together for the rest of our lives:)  Anyway, we had a birthday celebration this past weekend.  I had to be gone all day Saturday at a vet meeting in Indy and John was working Saturday morning, so Mom and Dad came over Friday night so that they could babysit Saturday.  They arrived about an hour before the kids' bedtime and brought in Blaine's birthday present - mainly because Grandpa couldn't wait to give it to him I believe.  Blaine LOVED his present!!!  My dad is very talented working with wood and made him this awesome wooden rocking tractor.  Blaine rocked and rocked on it for the next hour and did NOT want to leave it to go to bed!  He has continued to rock on it all weekend, and gets extremely possessive about it if Ava gets close to it or tries to ride it!  This is an awesome present and just perfect for my tractor-loving little guy!

Since I was gone all day Saturday, John and my Mom teamed together to make a great birthday supper for me.  Mom and Dad took the kids to a local shrimp farm Saturday morning to get some fresh shrimp for supper.  Sounds like the kids loved seeing all the shrimp swimming around and they all learned a lot about raising shrimp.  John and Mom fixed steak and shrimp for supper and it was all delicious!!!  The kids were eager to give me my presents Saturday night too - kind of my own little birthday party.  Then Blaine's birthday party came the next day.  Blaine wanted a Thomas the Train cake, so Grandma gladly obliged.  But she put Thomas on a red velvet cake, which is my favorite and what I always request for my birthday - so a good compromise for us both:)
Blaine was excited about his party and was SOOOO patient waiting to open all the presents.  But he loved all the tractors, tools and Thomas stuff he got - perfect little boy stuff.
And his new tools have come in handy for working on his tractor:)  He continually works on his tractor or stops to hook up different implements - I think that my carpet is well worked over now with as much plowing and discing he has been doing this weekend:)  Grandpa just says he should have painted it red so that it didn't need worked on so much...
We all enjoyed the birthday cake!  I think that Blaine mostly enjoyed the frosting!
After a full day of partying and playing, Blaine helped me make some brownies (with sprinkles of course) to take to daycare today.  Blaine was obviously on bowl-licking duty - he also liked being the sprinkle guy.  From the sounds of it, all the kids really enjoyed his birthday brownies.  But apparently the birthday was super tired from such a big weekend and had to be wakened from a loooong nap so that they could all dig into the brownies.
Such fun - I look forward to many, many more shared birthdays with my little man!
