This and That - So Much to do in Summer!

I know it has been a while since my last post, but summer obvioiusly gets sooooo busy with lots of fun things to do! I will update you with a few pictures at least. Over the 4th of July weekend, we headed to my parents' for a couple of days. We went over for a wedding on Saturday - Ava had a good time dancing with Daddy:)

And for our exciting 4th of July plans, we spent the day making noodles. When my Mom and I get together to make noodles, we MAKE noodles!!! Mom had made the 60 cake mix, 600 serving cake for the wedding we attended, so had lots of egg yolks saved up for noodles. Ava is enjoying helping Grandpa smash the noodle dough. I am thankful we use an electric noodle maker - we ended up with noodles spread out over 7 tables and the couch! But we ended up with 71 quart bags of noodles in our freezers - yummy!
Unfortunately, Ava also woke up sick and feverish that morning and ended up being sick for 4 days. She ran fever consistently of 102-103 and didn't eat. Also made for a VERY clingy Mommy's girl! I heard a lot of "Mommy, hold me" and "Mommy, I want you" and couldn't even go pee by myself. So glad that she got over that!!!

At least for the time being that Ava had some Tylenol or ibuprofen working in her, she was feeling better. She enjoyed some swimming time in the pond with Daddy and Samantha.

I just thought that this was a kind of cool picture. It rained a bit Thursday evening and God presented us with this beautiful rainbow - we could see it from end to end. I had to grab my camera since I don't often see the whole rainbow.

We got a couple of kittens from John's Grandma Zarse a while back and Ava has loved playing with them. I am not sure that the kittens reciprocate this feeling when getting squeezed and lugged around by a 2 year old, but they seem to put up with it. Tonight, she decided then needed a ride on the hammock. John tried to convince her that kitties don't like hammocks, but she was determined that they needed to be up there, so there they are...
We have also been busy with the garden lately. Ava is a good "bean breaker" and helped Daddy with the beans for quite a while tonight. This was my 3rd batch of beans to can. We are also eating a lot of zucchini and fresh potatoes. Our sweet corn is just coming on and John is getting a few fresh cucumbers to eat.
County fairs are also starting, so I am sure we will stay busy with fair activities too. At least we are not immersed in the 4-H activities ourselves yet - I am sure that time will come!
