Potty Training

We decided to potty train this weekend - big job, but I will be glad to be out of diapers! We are currently on day 3 and doing really well. We had one accident so far today, which I think caught Ava by surprise even. I rearranged my work schedule this week so that I will be home tomorrow with her too before taking her back to the babysitter's. Hopefully it continues to go well!

Ava likes her undies and proudly displays them. I was ready to let her put pants on this afternoon, but she wasn't interested at all. I hope that I haven't just trained her to not wear pants!

This was Day 1 potty-training (by mid-afternoon)! Thankfully, it has gotten much better every day! I don't think my washing machine could keep up with laundry like this all the time! And no, I didn't have accidents myself, but I did find myself changing clothes often too. Actually, Ava started to get the concept of telling us before she pees and heading to the bathroom on the afternoon of day 1, so I can't really complain too much.

And this is the magic reward - Ava loves "emmies" and we give her a couple every time she tells us and goes on the potty. She has started asking for them as soon as she sits down on the potty.

Boy, this potty-training stuff is A LOT of work. I don't realize how much I normally get done in a day when I don't have to spend all my time following Ava around to ensure I catch her during any accidents or am there when she needs to hurry to the potty. I keep telling myself that it will be worth it in the end though... although changing diapers doesn't sound so bad versus cleaning up pee-pee accidents or dealing with the mountains of laundry. But this is only temporary, right?!
