We took advantage of a couple of days off before school started to have some fun. The kids have bugged me about going to Indiana Beach - especially since Ava has gotten free passes with end of school report cards. So I decided that I would take them. I hadn't been to Indiana Beach for a few years and had heard that it was a bit nicer now under new ownership - so we decided to try it. The kids had fun, but I was not all that impressed. It was a couple hours of free fun since we had passes, but I would not ever consider paying normal admission for this park;)
The kids were really amused by the carp that gather up by the amusement park. I thought that they were rather disturbing and disgusting! These guys are huge thanks to the years and years of fair-type food that they have been eating! We did get a nice selfie on the train though. After a couple of hours of fun, we ended up spending the rest of the afternoon swimming with friends and had just as much fun as at Indiana Beach.
We also took a day to go to the Indiana State Fair. This is always a good time! There are so many fun kid-focused activities to do at the fair in addition to seeing all the 4-H stuff. We actually didn't end up looking at a lot of 4-H projects but had a full day of other fun stuff. There wasn't much in the way of livestock shows going on the day we visited the fair, but we did end up watching the mule and donkey show for a while. Ava is my die-hard livestock show enthusiast and wants to watch whatever specie is showing!
